Jonathan is an ARB registered architect and LEDA’s founding Architectural Director.
A long-term champion of sustainable design, he led the team that delivered the self-build Gledhow Bank ‘Eco housing’ scheme in Chapel Allerton, winner of the Leeds Award for Architecture in 1998.
Excelling in a multi-disciplinary environment, he is committed to an integrated team approach to design across a range of market sectors: from community, regeneration and housing; to large-scale workplace and industry.
He has particular expertise in the creation of healthy, flexible and inspiring indoor environments and detailing buildings for high thermal efficiency.
Jonathan believes that design should properly address the interface between the built environment and the people who use it day-to-day. He is skilled at developing ideas for the lifecycle of buildings, taking into account changes in climate, context and functionality.
He is a leading figure in the Leeds design community, working with artists and community arts organisations to explore new approaches to participatory design and regularly contributing to East Leeds FM (a local community radio station).
He also lectures on sustainable architecture and is, in his spare time, a musician and occasional sound artist.
