SEV

Sherwood Energy Village

Client: East Midlands Development Agency
Location: Ollerton, North Nottinghamshire

This project involved the complete architectural and building services design of six industrial units on the regenerated site of a former colliery. Ranging in size from 2,000- 5,000 ft2 (together with ancillary and office accommodation), the units were developed speculatively to demonstrate the feasibility of sustainable design for industrial programmes. The naturally ventilated interiors are evenly daylit by a centrally placed barrel vaulted rooflight (with diffusers); providing an inspiring and comfortable workplace with the flexibility to accommodate future changes in use. Of airtight construction with very high levels of thermal insulation, the buildings utilise local and recycled materials and are heated by domestic-sized condensing boilers.
